Yeah, they do. I only found out about it because I just ran a search on 'what do the numbers on binoculars mean' so that I could verify whether a new pair would be better than the ones I've been using, and literally every single article that explained what '8x21, 392 ft/1000 yds' meant also included 'btw, you're gonna wanna fiddle with THIS THING RIGHT HERE' and an explanation of the control in question.
I just assumed that because my pair was a giveaway for having raised $$ for the MS Society, and meant primarily for watching parades from a distance, that there was something missing or wrong with them.
Just to check the tone of my original comment, I meant that more as a "why do they never call this out with every pair of binoculars" and not why did you not know this. =)
It's cool, that's pretty much the tone I got. I was just in 'how the hell did I miss the fact that one of my eyepieces has a visible plus, zero, minus marking on it and HOW many times have I spent half an hour at a stretch squinching my left eye shut, contemplating buying a spyglass' mode.
