Feb. 20th, 2019 02:07 pmBBC had an article today about a letter to the pope from two cardinals, one a superconservative American one who was on the chair of some institute that's working with Steve Bannon on a 'leadership training course', one German. Seems these two princes of the Church believe that 'clericalism' is not the real problem of the Church and is not responsible for the sex scandals showing up every which way one turns, but that turning away from the Gospel is. Not in the sense that the Gospel says to feed the poor, shelter the homeless, visit the imprisoned, love and forgive, etc., but in the sense that divorced and remarried Catholics are being allowed to take Eucharist and that's just wrong.
Also, there's a gay agenda and a massive conspiracy of influence within the church and if they'd just get rid of everyone and everything gay in the priesthood then the sex scandals will stop.
Guess the whole sexual enslavement and rape of nuns thing, and the sheer number of children of priests who won't acknowledge them, etc., doesn't actually count. And the number of priests, bishops, etc. who give every evidence of being straight themselves, but who nevertheless quietly shuffled their rapist brothers in Christ off to somewhere else because the Church needed to look good and the victims wouldn't shut their stupid mouths, they're just being deceived by the giant gay conspiracy or something.
In related news, I added a thirty-day supplemental training program to my usual exercise routine today. The first day's exercise set? Punching. Lots of punching.
Maybe I should do today's set again.
