I think my favourite part is at least one person either granted access without looking OR looked at that profile and was like 'yes this seems like a real human being'

Now you mention it, I don't know of a way to block just one account. I generally post things I think might be sensitive under a lock, but I don't think of many things as sensitive. (Sometimes work stuff, if I can't clean my references to be vague enough to be 'any office connected to some kind of technical specialty.')
