Jul. 20th, 2018 07:54 amToday's People Are Looking For That PSA:
If you go to the hospital- or a less urgent medical appointment, but today in particular we are talking about the hospital- and they give you papers with your diagnosis, your medical history, and your recommended course of action before you leave, and you take the train home...
Please do yourself a favour and keep track of those papers until you get home.
Because one day the person who finds those papers on the ground next to the bench at the T station is going to be less careful of your privacy and information than I am, and you'll wind up finding out the hard way.
(I found somebody's discharge papers from the emergency room at MGH yesterday. I looked them over just long enough to find the 'please call this number if you have any further questions' number and contacted the hospital to ask whether I should send the papers back or destroy them. They said destroy. Don't know if they contacted the patient afterwards, don't care, it's not my business, but I put the papers in the shredder as soon as I got the chance.)
