Yeah, I wasn't big on the idea at first and I'm still not big on it, but a combination of tampon and pad has proven to be my best protection against the need for emergency trousers these past few years. And I'm willing to grit my teeth and deal with a tampon if the need to swim overlaps Shark Week. Mostly I avoid them, though.
That kind of thing is part of why I keep a full change of clothes in the back of my car. (I've also had enough times that I spilled something on my top or had a nose bleed, thus the full change, not just bottoms.)
Anyway, I have felt your pain and it sucks. Hopefully they'll at least be good emergency pants.
I have a spare shirt and spare 'not quite a jacket but if I throw it over a reasonable quality T-shirt it constitutes Business Casual' garment on hand, mostly so that I can change clothes if after-hours or lunchtime exercise results in more sweat than I am prepared to walk home with/wear for the rest of the day. I thought I had emergency pants. I did not. I had a pair of exercise shorts. This would not have helped.
The pants I wound up with were somewhat closer-fitting in the lower leg than I like, but I'll deal with that. Not like I plan on wearing them often.
I hate the damn things, and I'm convinced that wearing one tends to make my cramps worse, but I look at them as a preventative measure against the need for emergency pants. (Mentally I have also replaced 'belt-and-suspenders kind of guy' with 'tampon-and-pad kind of gal' as a result of this.)
I'd heard about it, but until yesterday I'd never experienced it. I think yesterday was a combo of heavy flow + already in a seated position + had some difficulty putting it in so it probably wasn't in a secure location to start with.
I have considered those maybe once or twice. I don't think I'd be up for the process of insertion and removal, though. I can be a bit of a sissy about things at times.

(Still not convinced to try them.)

Date: 2018-04-04 07:35 pm (UTC)Alas, I did not have a spare, and my pad proved a bit less than adequate, so I am now in line to buy Emergency Pants...
