I got up this morning at 8 and while there was no longer rain, the storm winds were still bad- 35 or 36 miles an hour. There was a warning out from the town about the high tide we were due to get before noon, and a notice that the town emergency people had rescued several people from their cars and at least one family from a flooded home (I got the impression they had a ground floor or basement apartment somewhere near the marinas and Winthrop Shore Drive).

Since there are only two routes out of Winthrop by land and one of them passes through an area that was flooded up to cars' side view mirrors yesterday, while the other passes through Belle Isle Marsh over a low bridge, I didn't feel safe in going out this morning, even though it was Climb to the Top day today (apparently they felt that there wasn't as much danger getting to 200 Clarendon Place as there might have been to other locations).

My apologies. I know I was supposed to go out and climb today. I'm hoping the weather doesn't screw things up for the Wediko stair climb in May.

With the weather, it might be good to switch to long distance swimming. Extreme weather is certainly the new normal.
