Lung climb update
Feb. 2nd, 2016 01:20 pmI've hit my goal and then some for the American Lung Association Fight for Air Climb. I'd like to thank each and every one of you who donated. They'll be emailing me my start time on Thursday.
In the meantime I'm still doing lunchtime stair practice. I'm doing the -2 floor (parking garage lower level) to the 28th floor in a right-hand turn stairwell, then walking across to the other stairwell and doing 28 to 34 in a left-hand turn stairwell. I usually follow that up with squats or lunges. Yesterday, though, I got through the first four sets of lunges and suddenly my left thigh announced that if I went any further with set five, it would do something we'd both regret. I had no desire to complete the exercises at the cost of actually being able to do the event for which I was training, so I stopped on the spot. Today I did -2 to 28/28 to 34 at a slower pace than usual, and refrained from squats or lunges. Still managed to clear a total of 36 floors in 4:01 + 0:02 + 4:33 + 3:01, which is slower than my usual due to taking it easy, just in case.
We'll see how things go tomorrow and Thursday. Last year I learned the hard way that no, I should not do the full stairwell the night before the actual event, so it's just tomorrow and Thursday, and then Saturday.
