Dec. 25th, 2015 09:36 pmWhen I drove cross-country from Oregon to Boston this summer, one of the places I stopped for gas was a little truck stop in Wyoming run by Sikhs. They sold gas and food and beverages and small things of various sorts, although they didn't sell cigarettes and I don't recall them selling alcohol, and they had a meditation center and Sikh temple on the property, in the form of a small building that might have been a converted mobile home. Not a bad place. Smelled like spices, which was a nice change from other places.
I don't know what holidays or religious festivals Sikhs celebrate. I don't know if they have anything to mark the Solstice time of year, although it wouldn't surprise me if they did. Whatever they have, I doubt it overlaps with Christmas. So they were probably open for business today.
I wonder how many truckers made a Christmas meal of samosas and paneer on their way to whatever destination it was they had to reach.
