camwynWeekend went okay. For once we didn't get any kind of snow accumulation, and I think we even had some melt-off. I haven't seen the streets glazed in ice, so I'm good with this.
No flight school, alas. I was originally scheduled for it, but the instructor was nervous about the weather and about getting somebody to plough or open the airport in case of bad weather, so we agreed to reschedule. I hope to get back in the cockpit this weekend. it's been too long for my liking.
I've started on that new lamp; I did all of the sawing yesterday. Turns out I made some mistakes, so it's time to go get a rasp or a file and some coarse sandpaper in addition to my regular sandpaper so I can even down all the relevant edges. I'm chalking this up to a learning experience even if the end result doesn't properly match the Target lamp despite that being my original goal. I haven't done real carpentry since something like kindergarten- furniture finishing is a completely different skill and putting together furniture that has already been cut and drilled and marked up with 'this screw goes here' is not carpentry, it's following instructions. Call it one more thing I need to know in the event that civilization collapses, or something.
Otherwise things are more or less all right. I need to get some part-acrylic part-wool yarn and work on a new blanket when I get the chance; the one I started before coming up to Boston had to be thrown out, because when I finally got off my ass to see what else I had to do with it, I found moths had gotten at it. My fault for being lazy about it, I guess. I'll make up for lost time later.
