camwynHead still hurting. Guess I should've taken the non-drowsy cold and sinus pill before leaving the house after all. I'll get something at lunch.
Currently looking at the voyage to Philadelphia for Ellen and have found a long strip of very boring territory between where she is now and the outskirts of Philly proper. Seriously, my usual means of making for interesting Fallout OOMery in new areas is to call up Atlas Obscura for the region, but there's next to nothing in the area other than some mansion-type stuff. If I send her through the ruins of Wilmington/Newark/New Castle that could get interesting, but at this point I'm half inclined to have her route follow the remains of US Highway 1 instead. Might see what I can come up with for the remains of Lincoln University, since that's close by.
Unrelated: while I didn't make soap last night I did make jerky. I'd done the cutting and the spice/salt/sugar rub the night before and left everything in the fridge to sit for 24 hours, so it was just a matter of assembling the dehydrator shelves and turning it on. Brought it in this morning. People loved it, esp. the CEO; this is the second time now he's told me it was my best batch yet. Given that last time I used the same spice mixture and salt I find this encouraging. Only difference from last time was that I used eye round of buffalo instead of domestic cow (the store was out of domestic cow eye round and I didn't see any top round; brisket makes nasty jerky; flank steak may have been in the case but around here that's $15/lb., which is way beyond the buffalo price). Not likely to make buffalo again unless similar circumstances prevail but it's worth remembering.
May have to go to Savenor's and see if they have venison that would be suitable for something similar, unless Uncle Michael has wild venison that's going begging.
