Have begun planning post-nuke Philadelphia for the Fallout universe. There will be man-eating tomatoes and mutant wildlife- thanks, New Jersey, for insisting on putting an aquarium in Camden. you make justifying weird things much easier. I have also got ideas for at least two human factions within the city and am debating exactly how horrid I want the place to be; I don't think it needs to be The Pitt, especially not with the crates of man-eating tomatoes roaming the other side of the river, but it probably took a pretty good pounding during the War and that's going to affect things.

I do, however, need to plan out a couple of Vaults for the area. I'm just sad that the low-numbered Vaults are on the West Coast, because a Vault that riffed on Logan's Run (overcrowded, low resources, everybody is put to death at age 35 to save the resources for everybody else, don't ask where the protein bars come from) would be great- it's just that a Logan's Run Vault would almost have to be Vault 35 (movie version) or Vault 21 (book version, although frankly the movie was better; the book was "OH JESUS GOD THE TEENAGERS WILL KILL US ALL" basically).

I grew up outside Philly and have a few suggestions. Use the fact that the area is full of colonial and Quaker history. Have Vaults focused on going back to Penn's time or one that's all about Franklin. And there's a lot of industrial activity just outside the city, that could be helpful too. Oil refineries and the like.

I know there is a better reason for killer tomatoes but this reminded me of my childhood.

Ah, so the original Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, then. :D

May one of those scientist be Dr. Mortimer Gangreen?

I see from the other comments that the tomatoes in question are partly due to SCIENCE! (genetic manipulation), but now I have the mental image of everything suddenly going still and silent for a moment, before a sound like thunder breaks across the landscape, sending ripples through the (highly radioactive, possibly glowing) nearby puddles of water. (Being Fallout-universe Pennsyjersey water, it might itself be mobile and semi-sentient.)

Then, a sun-darkening silhouette appears on the horizon, and the poor people in the scene realize that an heirloom has arrived.
