You know how sometimes I'll get an image stuck in my head of one of my RP characters in a situation and eventually have to build it into a plot somewhere just to make it happen and get it out?

I need Ellen to encounter this guy. And possibly come home with his shield.

I'm pretty sure he's not anywhere near the Capital Wasteland, though. Interstate 35, in our world, runs from Texas to Minnesota. For Ellen that's an insanely long way, given that her available means of transportation are a) her feet and b) her cow's feet. If I alter the sign a little, to 85, my chances are better; I-85 runs from Alabama to Virginia, and I've never really gone into anything to the south of the Capital Wastes. It might give me a chance to fill in some details while I wait for news about Fallout 4 (so I can decide whether to work with what they give us for canon or just say 'sod it, complete AU', as I'm kind of attached to my idea of the Commonwealth as a GRIMDARK MATRIARCHY OF SCIENCE).

Just thinkin' out loud.

It occurred to me that if I jigger things just right, the GRIMDARK MATRIARCHY OF SCIENCE could very easily be ruled by the only slightly less fantastical version of Princess Bubblegum. So there's that.

I need to do some research on scientific development centers along the general region of I-85. Paladin Lyons was originally sent East to secure the Capital's old tech resources, but it would not be hard to see him decide, now that things are a bit calmer in the Capital area, that the Brotherhood's research priority needs to be brought to the fore again, thus giving me an excuse to send Ellen somewhere southward.

For some reason this just reminded me of some head canon plans I have for Quin and Asajj Ventress out in the outer rim with her creating her own Nightsisters group. Of course with recent SW novel news, I'll have to wait until next year to decide if I'm going to run with it.

YESSSSSSS. (Is he a character from a game or an apocalyptic Captain America? They both make sense to me.)

If he's a character from a game, I've never heard of him. I was assuming he was a post-apocalyptic version of Captain America, myself. (Which means, since neither Marvel nor Timely existed in the Fallout universe, that I get to come up with the explanation for his existence myself. This should be fun!)

Did Steve ever give Ellen some of the comics about him during WWII, and did she bring them back to the Wasteland? Suppose they got passed around, and suppose this guy decided to do his own version..?

Hm. It's possible, although knowing the Fallout universe there's always the chance that he just cropped up entirely by accident (there are a few characters in some of the games who are either parodies of or homages to specific pop culture icons of our world, up through and including a hyperintelligent white rat with an oversized brain). Either way, I'm sure I can get it to work.
