Jul. 24th, 2014 01:31 pmThe doctor says I'm clean.
Pelvic CT scan shows no signs of anything nasty in the ureters, uterus, ovaries, bladder, lymph nodes, blood vessels, or peritoneum. Some indication of possible mild issues in the GI tract but they're irrelevant to the matter of flight. The spot that appeared on the X-ray was a phlebolith, which aside from being one of those medical words that was made up as a cruel joke on people with speech impediments* is apparently a harmless calcification within a vein. Another thing was turned up by the CT scan that didn't appear on the X-ray, but apparently it's in front of the bladder and nowhere near the ureter, so it's a phlebolith.
Doctor won't write a letter saying I'm a low risk of recurrence, because she says I'm at risk for the next ten years, but she'll have the medical assistant draft one saying I'm stone-free. Hopefully that will be enough for Nashua. She also says I'm to continue drinking two and a half liters a day, cutting down on salt, and keeping my animal protein intake low. If it means I can fly, I'll deal with this.
... just realized that this is the third part of my body to produce stones, after kidneys and tonsils (tonsilloliths being much easier to get rid of). Apparently I'm just extra hardcore. Groovy.
