Jul. 7th, 2014 10:44 amHey, do any of you guys reading this buy organic/natural stuff from Eden Foods?
Well, guess what: Michael Potter, Eden’s CEO, is applying his Catholic beliefs about birth control and its wrongness to his company and has filed for the same 'nope, not gonna do it' Obamacare status as Hobby Lobby. He claims, among other things, that contraception “almost always involve[s] immoral and unnatural practices.” (http://www.salon.com/2013/04/11/organic_eden_foods_quiet_right_wing_agenda/)
After filing the suit, he went even further, saying that the government has “no right” to extend coverage for birth control, comparing birth control to Jack Daniels, and saying that pregnancy should be covered but birth control should not because pregnancy has “more warmth and fuzziness.” (http://www.salon.com/2013/04/15/eden_foods_ceo_digs_himself_deeper_in_birth_control_outrage/) When the Supreme Court’s Hobby Lobby decision was announced, Potter said he was “grateful” for the court’s decision while calling President Obama a “dictator” who wants to take away Americans’ rights. (http://www.forbes.com/sites/clareoconnor/2014/07/03/hobby-lobby-fallout-catholic-soy-milk-mogul-wont-cover-drugs-that-prevent-procreation/ )
So. Yeah.
Scratch that company off my list.
