Have seen Snowpiercer. Well worth spending two and a half hours indoors in the dark on a bright summer day.

Did make getting on the blue line at Bowdoin to go home a little weird, though.

Especially since the Bowdoin platform is too short for the whole train and you can only board the last four cars.

On the one hand, I enjoyed the movie. On the other hand, it really only works as long as I turn my brain off and forget most of what I know about science.

I'm also wondering if there are any other oddly surreal movies with Tilda Swinton and John Hurt coming out this year.

I went into it with the awareness that it was essentially going to be Fallout: The All-Vaults, No-1950s Edition, which helped a lot.

The instant where I saw 'Based on the novel' followed by a French title and a French author's name also made it a lot easier to swallow the science, largely because the only French science fiction other than Verne that I've read was Planet of the Apes. Pierre Boulle made it very clear very early on that the science in his book was jolly well going to take a back seat to the Social Commentary Point He Was Trying To Make, So Deal With It. I kinda figured I was in for the same ride.
