Okay, uh, no guarantees or anything, but those of y'all who're including me in your disaster response/apocalyptic event plans, I'mma see about learning how to control a sailing vessel this summer, so update accordingly....

You likely don't have my height challenge to deal with but still, watch out for the boom. I've been nearly knocked into the drink by said piece of rigging before.

5'9". I've been on a few sailing vessels before- not in years, but I remember being warned to watch out for being clonked in the head- so I'll keep that in mind.

The organization offering the groupon is putting it out as an intro; full 'this person is okay to sail a boat' certification apparently requires a three-day multi-hour-per-day class and practice. Which makes sense to me, and so does a two-hour intro class; you don't want to commit to that many hours and find out about an hour into the course that you hate the wind and everything about it, or what have you.

I started a sailing class at Boston Community Boating this summer, but sadly had to let my 30 Day membership lapse due to lack of time.

But I'll be out on the water first thing next spring.
A full year membership is pretty much all I'm asking for for Christmas this year.
