Anybody here in the Boston area interested in a sheep=shearing festival this weekend in Waltham? It sounds like it might be interesting, and even if it's not there's a decent used bookstore/coffeeshop in town.
*returns from using the phone, which was logged in as Ellen* I figured driving would be the wisest idea, given that Gore Place isn't exactly the easiest to access via mass transit. I forget, do you have a car? I can get a Zipcar without too much trouble if need be.
Yeah, the website mentions free parking. http://www.goreplace.org/sheepshearing.htm - given the size of the craft fair part of the deal that would put it on par with a smallish RenFaire in terms of having to accommodate people.
What time do you consider reasonable to get up in the morning? I can get to wherever you need me to go for pickup via the T and my bike as necessary.
Enh, I'm flexible. If it's before 9 I'll whine, but since it's only in Waltham that seems unnecessary. I guess the bigger question is whether there's any reason we'd want to arrive there earlier or later. Is there anything time-sensitive you want to see, or other reasons to aim early or late?
Doesn't look like there's anything time-sensitive. There's sheepdog demonstrations at 11, 12:30, 2, and 3:30, but everything else is marked 'all activities ongoing unless otherwise noted'. So getting to Waltham around, I dunno, 11 or 12 ought to do it.
Works for me! Want to aim to meet around 10:30, then?
As far as places to meet... is the red line or the orange line easier for you? Porter and Davis are both pretty conveniently close and on the way for me, but Sullivan's not a bad drive either. Or Lechmere, come to that. Both Sullivan and Lechmere are in the wrong direction from Waltham, but we're only talking a couple of miles, so that's no big deal.
I wish! When I mentioned it to Eor he said, "Aw, they always try to get you to buy stuff at things like that, and they're always overpriced - you get fleeced."
