New bed has been very comfortable and firm so far. Makes some creaking noises when I get into it, but once I'm there it's quiet. If I could brace the headboard better maybe that'd be good- it's not attached to the bed proper, so pushing my pillow up too far bumps into it. I may look into getting some brackets to fasten them together or something. Have not motion-tested the bed much, though. I don't really toss or turn or bounce. Hopefully this should not be an issue.

- I'm gonna see if I can pull together an OOM from the POV of one or more of the thawed people for the Fallout setting, so as to give the Brotherhood an excuse to send someone up to their community, and by 'someone' I mean 'Ellen'. I may go with that professor of anthropological archaeology from last time, because I am lazy and I already started on him. Ellen's gonna be upset- Megaton is a home that never chased her out and she's being asked to leave it on a potentially ongoing-for-a-very-long-time basis- but she'll deal, and who knows. Maybe in X number of months' time she'll get to go back.

- I need to put Santo in the Bar again at some point. Just to have him hanging around. He's not really there for ongoing plot or story, he's there because I want to see him pick up a rulebreaker and throw them across the room, or offer someone the choice between time in the cells and fifteen minutes in the ring. (Which he will set up out back if that is the option chosen.)

- Somewhere in the course of his bartending shift yesterday I realized that Adrian Shephard really does subscribe to the belief that a Marine should have a plan to kill any given person he meets, just in case. It's nothing personal, it's just a matter of policy and preparedness, and it makes dealing with dangerous or disturbing people a hell of a lot easier because in the back of his head he always has the warm and comforting thought that if this so-and-so gets out of hand, he knows exactly what his next steps will be. This applies to everyone, including the nice ones- granted, sometimes the plan is mostly based around the idea that he may have to deliver a mercy kill rather than a combative attack. But still, it makes having a cheerful, friendly, civilized conversation with dangerous people so much easier. This occurred to me in the middle of his conversation with Eric Northman. Shephard has nothing against vampires per se; his adopted daughter, Kanaya Maryam, is one. But they're predators and they prey on human beings, and even a domesticated, fiercely loyal and human loving dog can get to the point where it has to be put down, so why should any other predator be exempt?

(I have a general idea of his plan for vampires should the need arise. It involves the words "nine hundred degrees kills anything". Shephard does not much bother with legendary methods of killing if he's reasonably sure he has an alternative. The plan involves several other things as well but mostly it revolves around incendiaries.)

- Last night during an ongoing OOM thread with Bing, I finally came to the point of accepting that while I may occasionally produce deep and potent and moving threads of powerful emotional impact, mostly what I seem to be very very good at is threads that wind up with the heroes being stampeded by reindeer who are all fleeing a polar bear with a screaming Icelander clinging to its back. Hell, when I went back over the old Shephard-Kreyu thread where he went through legendary trials and tests to get a magical replacement hand built by the Master Smith of the Fae of Elysium, he found himself in a cave full of basilisks who could turn him to stone with a gaze, carrying a polished mirrorlike bronze shield... and he chose instead to pull his undershirt over his face and sword the living crap out of anything that he vaguely perceived as moving, because what kind of idiot fights with an unfamiliar weapon (a short sword held in his left hand) based on what he sees in a mirror strapped to the remains of his dominant arm? There are worse people in life to be than Ursula Vernon, I guess.

I wish I could think of a rule breaker for you. Quinlan is the first that comes to mind but I can't see him picking a fight with anyone randomly.

If it does, I'll be sure to ping you. = ]

And now I am wondering if Quin would take Santo up on the offer of the fight. I kind of want him to and not use the Force to win.
