Mar. 20th, 2014 11:27 amHey, can I get some suggestions for an RP thing I'm considering?
I originally sent Ellen and some Milliways people up to the northwestern Capital Wastes for a plot to do with the Deathclaw Sanctuary (which I changed a bit from its canon form to make it more entertaining). The goal was for her to get this mission done quickly so that she could get married as soon as reasonably feasible. I had another plot in mind for later, but due to things to do with the other participant it has to get under way by a certain relatively soon date on the calendar, which implies delaying the wedding while she gets sent out to the other mission.
Understand, I'm not fussed about this. This is the Capital Wasteland. If something didn't interfere with the protagonist's life and plans I'd be very surprised, and frankly, just delaying things a bit is getting off light. The Fallout universe is a cruel place and if I were really keeping things in the same vein as the game, there'd be a mass supermutant attack or a rare mass migration of giant radscorpions through the area and somebody would get stung or die and throw things out of whack. I'm just trying to work out how to put things off for a week or two, and the idea of a meningitis outbreak at the Citadel, or an outbreak of some other disease that requires quarantine and rationing of appropriate chems, came to...
...
... or I could just have Ellen's superiors say "look, we think we found the Library of Congress but the area is physically unstable, we need somebody to investigate ASAP, there's this rumor about you and an underground civilization of mole people, we can get some witnesses together and get you two married right now but we really need to know if it's actually the Library or not", now that I think about it. It's not like there isn't a vast and glorious history of military members getting married in a hurry and then packed off to do something dangerous. And I always did kind of fancy the idea of "What? Oh yes. Got married, that's out of the way, we'll deal with the attempt at having kids when I get back" as opposed to making a Huge Thing out of it.
hrm.
