Mar. 17th, 2014 09:52 amThings I miss about living in Hoboken:
- proximity to New York City
- the 24-hour bodega around the corner from me
- so. many. restaurants.
- so. many. restaurants. that. deliver.
Things I don't even miss the slightest little bit about living in Hoboken:
- anything whatsoever to do with their St. Patrick's Day celebrations
Seriously, whether they have the parade the weekend before the day, or the week of the day, or they don't officially have the parade at all so some bunch of nimnuls puts together a massive citywide pub crawl based loosely off LepreCON, it inevitably ended with my apartment building's front steps smelling like pee, drinkers roaming the streets at stupid o'clock of the morning because the bars treated the day like Black Friday, green shiny things in the sidewalk cracks for a week, and more emergency squad calls than you'd normally see for anything other than a post-World-Cup soccer riot. We've had a few loud drinky people on the streets near where I live now in the past two nights, but that's the extent of it. I don't know how things will be in Boston proper tonight and honestly, I don't much care; I'm just glad I'm not in Hoboken any more.
Also tonight's meal will involve either stir-fried noodles and tofu or center-cut bacon and I'm not sure what else. I told my parents that if I were going to do any kind of Irish food, it would involve either lamb or salmon, and I'm in no mood to go to the butcher or the seafood counter tonight; I've got a literacy tutoring session with a student who's been in the hospital for weeks and getting home afterwards just puts a damper on the urge to go to the market.
