Sep. 19th, 2013 02:13 pmI have literacy tutoring class tonight. It's training for taking on a student for the Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts. It's three hours long in a small, overcrowded room, and while the people are nice and the material is interesting, I don't want to go. The room is warm and the air circulation is bad, and it's everything I can do to stay awake, and while the class starts at 6 PM I won't be home until 10:15 at best; class ends at 9, and the T gets me to Government Center in time for a blue line T that gets me to Wood Island in time to sit in the dark and wait for a 9:55 bus.
I have one more class session after this and then it's a matter of waiting until they match each of us with a student. Who, thankfully, we will be able to meet with somewhere other than a ten-person conference room crammed with eighteen people.
