Gee, maybe people would like to see one of the better-known Native American characters out there... played by a Native American. WHO'DA THUNK IT.

(I mean, it's not like it's as hard as it used to be. If Twilight could cast an entire damn werewolf pack, surely Disney could have found one guy who wasn't Johnny Depp.)

On the other hand, the reviews I've seen suggested it kinda sucked aside from that.

Except for the guy who plays Jacob, he's a white guy who claimed he was Native to avoid bad publicity. Or so I'm told, at least.

Having not heard of this before, I nipped over to Wikipedia to check:

Raised as a Roman Catholic,[5][6] Lautner is of mixed German, French, and Dutch heritage, and has stated that he has "distant" Native American ancestry (specifically Ottawa and Potawatomi), through his mother.[7][8]

So I guess he is in fact effectively just white, but it didn't say anything about him claiming otherwise.

I didn't want to watch it because the previews failed to hook me--it looked like some type of action slapstick comedic farce I had no interest in. (Reminded me of the Green Lantern previews.)

It is a very delicious pie, but you will need approximately 20 friends to help you eat it, because it is super rich.

But definitely worth the sugar rush to celebrate how much that stinker of a movie bombed!
