And I'm home.
Jun. 24th, 2013 09:27 amGot back to Boston last night safe and sound, and managed to get to Winthrop at a reasonable hour. Proceeded to be unable to sleep in any kind of meaningful fashion, partly because of heat and partly because of worries about work, but I tried. At least I got eyes-closed-lying-down-time and my cat put her head on my hand once in a while, so that's something. I may have been able to sleep a bit, if only because I don't feel like I do when I get less than a full REM cycle. I just have vague memories of checking the time far too often to be healthy.
Ah well.
I'm avoiding caffeine today and probably for the rest of the week because we have a DR test coming up and my body's response to stress often includes 'form kidney stones'. As much as my boss says not to worry about it, I tend to worry about these things, so I'm not going to put my poor kidneys through the diuretic wringer any more than I have to. Tonight I will be getting an air conditioner (used, but still in good condition) and probably taking a nice cool bath with stress-relief aromatherapy scents, so hopefully that will help. We'll see.
Unrelated: my attempt at eating local Maine specialties last night finally ran me into something too sweet for my liking, or at least into something with the wrong combination of sweet and texture. I got a red velvet cake whoopie pie on the train home and was only able to deal with about half of it at a time. Next time, screw the oxalates. I'm going straight to blueberries.
Thank you very much,
derien and
eor, for having me over. I greatly appreciate it.

Date: 2013-06-25 01:32 am (UTC)I definitely recommend the traditional whoopie pie (chocolate cake) over any other flavor, but I don't think that any adult in proper working order can eat a whole one all at once. The last time we bought one (a gluten free that's available at the corner store) we had a quarter each with some ice cream, and ate it over two days. :)
