Made my attempt at Hostess cupcakes. The frosting is not quite as I remember it, not yet. Possibly because it is ganache and I used half and half instead of real cream, or possibly because I used bittersweet chocolate chips and the frosting on the old cupcakes didn't have quite so much actual chocolate flavor. I'm not sure. I also had a hard time of it with the filling, as I bought pastry bags to use to fill them and only realized when I got home that they were refill bags, with no tips involved, and it's a bit harder to fill a cupcake when you don't have a directional nozzle. Sticking the handle end of a spoon in and wiggling it around doesn't carve enough of a hole.

I did not even attempt to make the icing squiggle down the middle. It wasn't worth dirtying another bowl to make that stuff up.

I acquired a tumblr a while ago, mostly just to be able to follow Escher Girls and Fatty Thor and Memos From Fury and Boobs Don't Work That Way and Calming Manatee and Boggle The Owl and Get Out Of There Cat without having to remember each one individually. I've never posted to it. I'm considering using it to post Recipes As They Are Actually Made, which would include "EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS: half-cup measure, cup measure, medium bowl, large bowl, spray bottle of water" and "Step 3: Spritz the cat because he KNOWS you have butter up there and is trying to find it and eat it himself". Only if I do that I probably ought to get one and call it recipesastheyareactuallymade.tumblr.com instead of just my usual online user name. Hrm.

I keep thinking about getting a tumblr for that reason as it would be useful to not have to search for what I follow. I'd definitely follow yours since I love hearing what your making as well as why you choose the recipes and equipment you do.

Some people take advantage of this more than others. (I've never changed mine, but I would have adopted a spooky url for Halloween last year if I'd actually thought of one before November.)
