I got Bioshock Infinite the other day. Started playing last night; I just got to Battleship Bay.

Congratulations, 2k Games. Fallout America is a less disturbing setting. I didn't think that was possible.

Now I really want to get this game. And the first Bioshock.

And play Fallout 3 again, only for real this time.

I'll be honest, BioShock Infinite is great, but BioShock 1 will always have a special place in my heart, flaws be damned. I guess something about the setting appealed to me? Plus there's the running theme of sacrificing your humanity to survive in Rapture vis-a-vis the plasmids, and you don't really get that sense with the Vigors.

I know Ken Levine was trying to deconstruct the fundamentals of FPSes and Mission Control in BioShock, so maybe he meant for players to project themselves onto Jack? I dunno.

Everything up to Battleship Bay is nothing. Wait until you get to the Hall of Heroes.
