Medic! (Because I'm predictable.)

I'd do a whole post for Medic the way I did for the others, but he's... not really all that complex a character in my head and probably won't need it. My apologies.

1. The man is completely self-centered. Everything he does, everything, is motivated by how it affects him personally, and if not him directly, then his reputation. (It looks bad for a known doctor in a public place to just sit there and ignore someone asking for emergency help, even if he doesn't want to act, for example. So he'll get up and intervene in a bad situation, but not because he actually gives a damn.)

2. He's something of a thrill seeker. A profound desire for a challenge worthy of his talents is why he went into medicine in the first place- he figured there was no greater challenge than to ultimately bitchslap Death. And he went to work for a mercenary company (or whatever you want to call BLU) because that not only presented the standard medical challenges but added the element of time-critical danger.

3. He despises the Nazis. Because they were stupid. They established a dictatorship in which the scientific establishment faced few to no challenges in whatever they tried to pursue and they wasted their opportunities on catering to an ill-considered, badly-thought-out personal prejudice that had no backing in real science. They ruined their country's reputation, wasted their country's resources, and got their country ripped in half after the war was over, all because they were too busy catering to stupid people's egos. Anyone who attempts to imply that he is/was/ought to be one of them is in for a very bad time.

4. He has, as he puts it, two soft spots in his black und scaly heart. One is for small children (this is defined as 'under the age of ten or so', although he isn't all that good at determining ages and so a particularly small older child may slip into this category), and the other is for his pet guinea pig Katyusha, who was a gift from Herr Heavy.

5. He appreciates competence, which... again, is a big part of why he despises the Nazis (competence at mass murder is not acceptable when you're SUPPOSED to be competent at conquering the world, which, not so much). It's one of the reasons he puts up with Herr Demoman, because even drunk off his ass Herr Demoman is a god of explosives. It's also one of the things that got his attention with Cata, and one of the reasons he'll deal with otherwise crazy people in Bar- if they know what they're doing and they're good at it, they might just e worth his attention.
