I need to write to the guy who blogged his own injury and healing process back in 2010 and thank him for chronicling it all; he made it a lot easier to deal with, especially knowing that his injury (which was worse than mine) had healed in less than a month.

I'm surprised someone didn't demand you get a skin graft on your finger. Not enough area displaced?

Not really, no. I mean, it was a 1/16" depth cut and I'd thrown away the piece of skin that got cut off. It wasn't worth the effort.

As a kid I managed to almost completely slice the tip off my left little finger. My parents were the sort that didn't believe you needed to go to the doctor unless it turned green and fell off, so I now have a weird bump on my finger where the flap healed. Which means that my fingerprints will always ID me with 100% accuracy if I fail to wear gloves.
