camwynHrm. The Ride to Montauk is the only century ride I've ever done. It's on June 16th this year. Nice, flat hundred miles until you reach mile marker 97 and see the sign reading WELCOME TO HITHER HILLS STATE PARK at which point you put your head down on the handlebars and cry like a baby.
Entry fee is $92. Transportation back from Montauk for myself and the bike would be $65.
You know, it's a nice idea and all, and I've done it twice, but I think I might look for a ride that isn't this hard to get home from. I wish the Ride organizers all the luck in the world, though. It really is a great ride and Lord Almighty do they ever have incredible rest stop service.
