Two of my co-workers in the IT department are smokers. This being New York City, when they smoke, they have to do it outside. Usually they do it together; sometimes one of them goes with a guy from elsewhere in the company. This week I decided that I'd go to the weight room and do reps on the weight machines or pushups or squats every time the IT guys went out for a smoke, at least 30 at a time.

So far this week I've got a combined total of 486 reps and pushups. Since I'm avoiding anything that'd make me sweat too visibly, I'm not doing my full Hundred Pushups Workout daily sets. Mostly I've been doing 'how many of these can I manage in two minutes' time' sets instead.

The answer, it happens, is 55. Which is enough to gain me at least 77 points on the Army Physical Fitness Test even by the standards they apply to men. By women's standards? They don't expect women to be able to do that many at all- the age group with the highest maximum number of pushups in two minutes gains 100 points for being able to do 51 in two minutes, and no credit is given for any more beyond that.

Next step: chin-up bar. Also, situps.
