1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 4-7 sentences on your LJ along with these instructions.
5. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest (unless it's too troublesome to reach and is really heavy. Then go back to step 1).
6. Tag five people.
"Assuming that the progeny will be killed for table at 4 to 5 months old, giving the producer 1 to 2 rabbits per week for his table, accommodation will be required for 4 litters of different ages at the same time (assuming does are mated at different stages).
It is not advisable to run rabbits of vastly different stages together.
Consequently for this purpose, it is advisable to use either the following: Morant type, see Fig. 32, Weaning type, see growing-on type, Plate 43, also Plate 46, and for the larger breeder the colony system, see Figs. 33 and 33a, pages 131-132. Further details of these types are given later.
May breeders retard the progress of their stock by not making provision in advance and leaving the litters over-crowded with the mother. This may cause permanent damage to the health of the youngsters."
- Penguin Handbooks, PH 14: Keeping Poultry and Rabbits on Scraps, Claude Goodchild and Alan Thompson, first published 1941.
.... I had it in my purse this morning, okay?. Tag is to whoever is interested.
