Got an advertising email today that would've been spam if it weren't from a company whose product I'm currently testing on my desktop. I haven't read the email, I don't need to- just the subject line:

Defrag Your SAN - Here's Why

.... I'm thinking of making that my new journal title. Or something.

What's a SAN?

In the case of this email, they meant Storage Area Network. It was an email from Diskeeper Corporation, as I'm using a trial version of their defragmentation software. In my case I normally use it the way the people at Chaosium use it, as the abbreviation for the Sanity stat in the Call of Cthulhu RPG.

I think the whiskey's meant to prevent further fragging rather than consolidating what you've got.

Ohhhh. I never played a game where there was a sanity stat, though I've heard of them. I don't know why I didn't think of that.

It's not really all that widespread of a stat- I've never encountered it in a game outside the horror genre. Not exactly the first thing to leap to mind unless you're into that sort of thing, I guess.

Well, when I need to defrag my SAN, I like to talk the results of meditation out with friends, and follow that up with food & booze--so my answer would be yes.

...actually, that holds true for SAN in both the nerdcore and woowoo senses, as I've had to work with both. Debrief and de liquor for de win. 8-D

There are days I'd rather frag my SAN, honestly....
