I've done some research. If I want to participate in the Empire State Building Run-Up, I have to submit an application to the New York Road Runners club. The said applications open after the ING New York Marathon. Apps are considered based on athletic experience and prior race times, and especially on your experience with stair races.
So.
I'll be registering for the Five Boro Tour as soon as I can, I think. It's not timed, but four or five years of completion probably look good on the record. Not sure about the Ride to Montauk; last time, I did some long term pressure damage to two fingers on my left hand. Shorter distances, like the Harlem Valley Rail Trail (55 miles) or the 66 mile paart of Montauk, maybe. The Twin Lights Ride may ber good, too, if it doesn't overlap my mother's birthday again. And stair races, obviously. There's One in Hartford, CT at the end of March that should do to start if I can get a place to stay there. 34 floors, hundred dollar fundraising minimum (it's for the American Lung Association- a lot of these things are). After that, I need to find more..
