... suddenly I wish Barricade hadn't been killed in the first TF movie. Because I just found a quote from the video game Prototype that would suit him perfectly:

"You have the right to be ventilated. I have the right to burn your home and shoot your dog. Do you understand these rights as I have read them to you?"

Is Barricade the police car Decepticon? Because I don't remember if he was one of the casualties, and I've seen some people writing fanfic set after the movie where he was still alive, so I'm not the only one who is unsure about his death.

Yeah, he is. Since they didn't bother putting him in the sequel, I'm running with the assumption that he's supposed to be dead. Besides, I'm putting Prowl in the AU, and since he's the Autobot police car, I want to play Sam meeting him for laughs- AIEEEEEEE COP CAR ROBOT GONNA KILL ME, BUMBLEBEE BRING ME MY BROWN PANTS.

I'm putting Prowl in the AU

I am grinning SO MUCH right now. SO much. I can't wait to see how this unfolds in the bar setting.

I didn't see him either, but I think that was writer mishap. Barricade, despite his Bad Cop routine on Sam in the first movie, struck me as scout and stealth expert, much like Bumblebee is supposed to be (and fails terribly at in the second movie; seriously, if he was worried about the TerminatorDecepticon co-ed going after Sam, there were a dozen other things he could have done, starting with calling Sam on his cellphone). Maybe Barricade is following his cop motif and is deep undercover, lurking as a squad car for the PD in the city near Autobot Base.

I'm told that in the novelization of the movie, they make it clear Barricade is dead, but they leave the question open in the movie itself and possibly the comic adaptation on purpose. I'm planning on leaving him out of the AU plot anyway. If he wants to be alive he can delurk sometime after we finish with the main thing, maybe around the same time poor Dispensor surfaces.
