APPROXIMATE FIRST DRAFT OF 'RISE OF THE FALLEN' PLOT OUTLINE

PART THREE: GIANT ROBOT FIGHTY TIEMS NAO

Happening at the same time:

FIGHT ONE. Soundwave, Ravage & Laserbeak vs. the Texas National Guard. Specifically, a good chunk of these guys. No satellites involved; Soundwave's alt is one of these. It's just not Soundwave unless he gets to look around at the end of the fight and announce, "Soundwave: superior. Army National Guard: inferior." Not sure whether I want anyone to escape alive or not.

FIGHT TWO: Thundercracker and Skywarp vs. Israeli air force jets. They can leave the fight early if need be, so long as they trounce the snot out of anything that heads their way. I don't even care if it's Israeli, it's just that the movies have Qatar and Egypt and other places and Israel's waaaaaaaay out of the way. Could be Syrians for all I care. Anyway, Shockwave notes to them that they're on their way to redeeming themselves, now go do more damage.

FIGHT THREE: Mexico City. ANY giant robot loose in Mexico City is going to be an absolute disaster. Pick some 'cons, I don't care, but this is where Jetfire and Silverbolt show up to save the day so it had better be good.

FIGHT FOUR: Seattle. US Army scrambling against something really nasty. The Twins want in on this, so make it pretty.

(Much as I would give four of my teeth to find a way to get Grimlock to Tokyo at this point, there's really no way to get him across the Pacific fast enough. Grimlock saving Tokyo is going to have to wait until later in the plot.)

About now we need a sitrep indicating other battles going on around the country and the world. There have to be a couple close enough to Autobase to lure them out, plus the others to keep humans off balance- anyway, the point is that we need to see where fights are happening that aren't 'on screen' Mikaela and Bee will fret about Sam while others attempt to suss out a pattern. Shockwave isn't throwing enough force at them to truly subjugate the planet, just damage and demoralize- what is he trying to do?

Bumblebee to beg to go protect Sam. Prime allows it.

(Side note: female Decepticons. I want them. Preferably at least one should be leading an attack somewhere. Just indicate that they've got girl voices or girl holograms or something, they don't have to be small builds or any particular vehicle type. Strika made me happy,a fter all.)

Perceptor may be the one to spot the pattern. This is Percy's alt mode, btw. I want him and Ratchet to be arguing over the map while they're getting ready to roll out. It occurs to them that they're not looking at military targets, that Shockwave is playing them for fools... The only goal that makes any sense for Shockwave is Megatron. There's nothing else on Earth that he wants (so far as they know), and he's not a mech who pursues revenge. Shockwave was, however, fanatically loyal to his master. Shockwave must have come up with some means of restoring Megatron; if any mech could dig that up, it would be him. Percy pings Prime to ask about the North Fleet...

... which is currently in SO MUCH TROUBLE because O HAI SURPRIES TIDAL WAVE. Not a tsunami, I mean the Decepticon aircraft carrier, Tidal Wave. When it's all said and done there's Cons landing on his deck and more coming in, and it's just ugly all 'round. Screamer may land on the deck and pronounce it Good. Someone should inform him that their other goal is within their grasp...

... cut to college. Aymer wakes up to the sight of Sam frantically covering all of the walls in Cybertronian glyphs and stacking books on chairs to get up to the ceiling. Sam's pleading with something unseen to let him finish, make it stop, run, Aymer, they're coming- we're talking the same kind of flat out fracturing that sent Archibald Witwicky to the insane asylum. Not that I don't love Sam, but the brain overflow in the movie didn't quite feel right. Anyway, Aymer is a clever young man and grabs Sam's phone, as his own is out of charge, and snaps pictures of everything in the room including Sam before fleeing. Not really knowing who to call, he texts Mikaela and says 'your boyfriend's going crazy' and sends her the pictures. She's crossing the country with Bee and Arcee, because Bee contacted her in his worry about Sam. I'm not sure what to do with her in the plot, but there'll be something, if I have to put her on Arcee's back and have her shoot everything that moves. Anyway, Arcee recognizes the glyphs, as does Bumblebee; they've both seen that writing on the Allspark...
