May. 7th, 2009 10:44 amOn a less ibuprofen-related note, I pulled down Broken Steel for the Xbox two days ago.
Yes, it is buggy. It installed without a hitch, but when I played, I had to reboot three or four times to clear up bugs- a weird graphics glitch when I approached Old Olney, a glitch where shooting at someone in VATS mode resulted in the projectile being strung all the way up and down the screen and never hitting the target, a glitch in one of the tunnels where feral ghouls only took about 1/10 the damage they should've (seriously, man, it was me, three sentry bots, and Dogmeat, and those bastards weren't even slowing down). However, like I said, I rebooted the Xbox each time and the glitch was gone when I came back. So I got to play all the questage through last night.
And oh, God, it rocked. It totally rocked. It did indeed make up for the awful original ending; Bethesda, you are forgiven.
(Even if I did have a moment early on which I am going to put into whitetext behind a spoiler cut: WAAAAAAAAAAAH! OPTIMUS GORT! NOOOOOOOO! ... at least Scribe Rothchild gave me the option of finding things to help rebuild him, but still!)
Seriously, though. The way they structured the DLC was that you played through exactly like before, and you had the ending, and you had the ending movie, and then you had the 'hi, loading now' graphic, and then the words TWO WEEKS LATER appeared. And... to be honest, what happened immediately after that was almost exactly what I had originally imagined was going to happen with a Good Karma Ending, which may account for some of my IT R0X0R response.
But it was still very cool and I'm happy now. I can put up with a lot of bugs for this.
