Merry Christmas, y'all!
Dec. 25th, 2008 11:16 pmAmong all the other appropriate holidays. Whatevs, it's all good.
Just dropping a note regarding something that showed up on my "..." slate this year. Among other things I got for Christmas this year was an issue of Interweave Knits. The back of the magazine has a classified section. I browsed it this time to see if any yarn stores in New York or New Jersey that I recognized had placed an ad. One tiny four-line ad caught my attention. New Mexico. Organic, fair trade, non-profit- it's an organization that sells Navajo sheep herders' yarn, wool, etc. as part of keeping the Dineh way of life alive.
Normally I'm into that kind of thing on its own, but Lord help me, I had to buy from these people.
They're named Black Mesa.
http://www.blackmesaweavers.org/ as it happens. I'm waiting to find out availability and price on orange and grey yarn....
