I'm in the parade tomorrow. Today I managed to get my hands on a plastic gun that could theoretically take the place of Alyx's Gun. (I would've preferred finding a home improvement store and getting a wrench or a crowbar, as those are quite useful, but one takes what one can get.)

I just made its holster out of duct tape and a sliced-up Whoppers container.

You had better make sure there are pictures of this!

Also, there's few things more satisfying than bodging together costume elements with cardboard and duct tape and having them look awesome.

drharper got a picture before the parade started. I wound up getting rid of the holster about then; it was coming apart after the walk to the starting like and standing around for half an hour. But there will be pictures.
