Writer's Block: On Your Tombstone

"Andiamo." 's Italian for "We go", but my track coach in high school used to use it instead of 'Let's go!'.

Also, the gravestone should just be a memorial marker or something, because I intend to let them gut me like a fish, send the organs where they need to go, and if they have any usable bones left, string up a wireframe and get me into medical school at last as a teaching skeleton.

Originally I wanted a big stone angel that glowed in the dark, holding an urn with my ashes. But now I think there should be a box with a slot on top by her feet, and a plaque that reads: Please insert 75n cents for the next three minutes.



I can only ever think of really irreverent things about my own death, because I've been so close to actually dying so many times. Really, when you know you're probably about to die, you don't give a crap about what they do with your body or what they might put on your headstone.

The closest I've ever been to probably about to die... well, I can think of two times that would qualify, I don't think the 105.1 degree fever counted since I didn't get hospitalized. Anyway, the thoughts of the time were:

"The rear end of the car directly in front of me is not ceasing to get bigger even though I have my foot on the brake."

and

"Mr. Gramm is gonna kill me for losing the Chapter's truck! Let me go back and get it!"

... 'course, the first time I didn't get injured beyond whiplash and the second time the building didn't actually collapse after all, but that's as close as I got to death and such. Thoughts of tombstones, body disposition, etc.? Nowhere in sight.

Wow almost had an accident there! Never thought of it but will put some thought into it and post an answer! Will also ask Mel she is great with words. LOL send my parts whereever there needed... he he he he! and a skelton lol now that was good lol....

I kinda want to be mulched, composted, and used to fertilize a national park or something. All those preserved bodies in hermetically sealed coffins can't be much good for the ecosystem.
