Hey, does anybody in the northern New Jersey / Manhattan area know where I can get my hands on some good-quality essential oils? Not fragrance oils, essential oils. I'm looking specifically for cedarwood and clove oil- eucalyptus too, but the first two are probably the more important. When I go about making my next batch of soap I'm going to try it with a scent mixture I remember from a store that closed a long time ago.

(And those of my friends who're BPAL fanatics, if this works out, who knows? Maybe someday I'll be able to do small batches of soap with those scents. Assuming I can still get the lye.)

Surprisingly, Bath and Body Works carries essential oils as part of their aromatherapy line. I know I've found Eucalyptus there.

Just be careful when doing BPAL stuff, you can't actually sell it. Or something like that. (It's on the BPAL forums, if you want, I can look it up for you.) But I think you're more than allowed to be reimbursed for materials.

The "rule" that BPAL has about such things is such:

They ask that you not make a profit off of reselling the oils, or anything that you have made containing the oils.

And it's pretty obvious why they do this. As a BPAL'er myself, these people can be raving, obsessive fanatics. And it takes long enough to get your orders as it is. AND, one of the big parts about BPAL is that there are limited edition scents that come out all the time, and then they're gone. Could you imagine what would happen if it were possible for schmucks in the general public to buy up all the limited edition scents, and resell them for waaaaaay marked up prices on ebay?

Yeah.

That's why that rule is in place.

I was pretty sure that's what the rule was, actually, I just couldn't remember. Thanks!

Actually, I'm mildly envious, I've always wanted to make soap. And BPAL scented soap...sigh.

You can probably find some at a health-food store. At least, I've usually seem them at most of the health-food stores I've ever been to. *shrug*

Integral Yoga. 13th St between ... 6th and 7th, I think. Specifically, the Vitamins, Books and Beauty shop, which is across the street from the grocery store area. I've only been in once so I don't know how extensive it is, but I know that the IY in C'ville has a huge essential oil section (I know, I had to buy all the damned oils every week).

Clove and Eucalyptus are really common, because they can be used for so many health related things. Cedarwood might be a little harder to get, but they can probably order it for you if they don't have it on hand.

I've almost gotten the entire house clean! It took me all weekend, but I've gotten every room except for the living room done.

...which sucks, cause that's where I spend most of my time. But still! 4 out of 5 rooms done!

*happydance*

*is pathetic*

They don't deliver to us, unfortunately. If we want groceries, Danii has to walk a mile to the store, then back. Although I did grab some essentials we were low on at Duane Reade on the way home tonight. Yay for walking half a mile carrying gallons of tea!

Nope, no plans!

Danii was actually wondering if you would like to come over tonight to watch Doctor Who and kill things brutally with crowbars and assault rifles.

We may try one of the new restaurants on Delivery.com out, to see how it measures up, since I don't think we have any meat thawed.

Or, we may stick with mexican, as it has yet to fail us for deliciousness.

By the by, Subia's on the corner has a pretty big selection too if you're still looking for anything.

Settling down. Shira's been out of the house a lot, because she's had dance events, and Tir has been apartment hunting a lot. Now that we're all back from Toronto, we should have some actual time to focus, though I'm actually going in for a medical procedure this afternoon, so we'll see how that goes.

Thanks for checking in.

*hug*
