Went to one of the health food stores in Hoboken today on the way back from my bike ride. I did 22 miles and came back on a ferry rather than riding the rest of the way to the WTC PATH station. Turned out I'd gotten a flat somewhere along the way, but the ferry's a block or two from a Hoboken bike shop, so it's in for repairs.... Anyway, in the store I happened to glance into the dessert section of their freezer.

I'm no Final Fantasy player, but I've dealt with people who are for long enough to get twitchy at the sight of Lifestream brand fruit pies. Just... um.

Yeah, I thought of that exact strip when I saw the pies.

... and came really close to buying one of the apple ones, but stopped at the last moment.

I'm no Final Fantasy player either (or video game player, really; I get all of my geek cred in that department by proxy).
But watching one of my friends play through FFX last year was enough to give me pause when signs went up advertising Religious Life's annual 'Blessing and Sending of the Seniors.' It's one thing to know what they mean, but quite another to read it as '...so the seniors have been DEAD THE WHOLE TIME?' despite that knowledge.

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab used to have a line of Kabbalah-inspired perfumes, now discontinued, and whenever I saw the "Sephiroth" half of that line mentioned (that is, the virtues; the Things Not to Do are the Qliphoth), I would have a similar twitch moment.

I had a chart of the Sephirah on my wall from sometime in early college all the way through moving into this apartment, so the sight of the Lord of the Bishies' name is the twitch-inducer for me.
