So the hat came back again.

I don't remember if I told y'all about this before. I knitted myself a hat in green and grey and silver with both versions of the Elder Sign- star form on the crown, branch form all around the fold-up brim. Under the brim I knitted the Heroes squiggle, because I could and because I needed something to take up the space. Sometime in December or so I realized on the way out the door that I couldn't find the hat, so I grabbed my CSI: Arkham baseball cap instead. Figured it was lost somewhere in my apartment and I'd find it when I got home. Not that night, but the night after, I came home very late from work and found the hat neatly laid out on the concrete sitting-height wall that marks the left-hand border of my apartment building's steps. It was utterly soaked from the rain that'd been falling all day, but it was otherwise unharmed. I don't know if I dropped it outside and someone found it, or if it'd decided to get out and go for a walk itself, or what- but the hat came back. I wound up taking it upstairs and washing it thoroughly and letting it dry before wearing it again.

Monday morning I couldn't find the hat. I assumed it was in the depths of my knitting bag/purse somewhere, so I grabbed the CSI: Arkham hat again and started out the door- and found the hat on the steps leading up from my floor to the roof. Which is rather odd, given that I didn't go anywhere near those steps on Sunday night, and I couldn't remember taking the hat off to do anything other than stick it in my purse....

*eyes hat*

I am afraid of your hat. It clearly has eldritch hat legs which it uses to sneak around when you're not looking, and probably steals your food.

yeah, so last night my WHOLE BODY is un accounted for. but that has a much more convenient explination- namely that I got twisted drunk and blacked out at my friends' rock show.

the food it steals is probably then in turn stolen by illegal immagrants. they eat up all of our food. i think. or something. oh fuck it i can't remember. just ask mike huckaby(sp?).

I suspect it may be responsible for stealing my keys. They keep disappearing at odd times and reappearing in places I don't remember putting them, yet which would be too difficult for the cats to manage.

They're supposed to be protective eldritch symbols, not invoking or animating... oh, well, too late now.

I'm working on some of those, actually. We'll see how they turn out.

You understand that I'm now trying to work out a cable pattern for an Elder Sign. Star first, then branch. I shall make them into an afghan, enter the State Fair, and send the whole place sinking into oblivion. Or, y'know, see the afghan turn up on the other side of the building, over by the funnel cake stand.

Let me know how the cable goes. I did mine in Fair Isle.

I'd thought the name sounded familiar. And then this morning it sank in and I went '...she didn't. ::checks IMDb:: SHE DID.'

I don't make up politicians if I can avoid it. If I have to mention a politician by name- an actual office holder, not a science advisor or a Justice Department lawyer or something- they'll either be a real-world politician who amuses me for some reason (Mitt Romney, Bill Frist, Ben Nighthorse), or someone who held a political position in some other canon. It amuses me, and it cuts down on the number of canons Ray can puncture people for, since they're real people in his world.
