Three major newspapers in the New York City area are the New York Times, the New York Daily News, and the New York Post. They each have their own distinctive style of headline, although the Daily News occasionally blurs in the Post's general direction. The exercise? Take the same earth-shattering, paradigm-altering event and write the headline about it for each of the three different papers. For example, say the event was the discovery of fire.
NY Times: Newly Discovered Chemical Process, 'Fire', Offers To Change Our World
NY Daily News: FLAME ON!
NY Post: AIEEE! IT BURNS! IT BURNS!
Like that, but with an event that would constitute an actual news story.
