*blink blink blink* I never noticed that before...

Er. May of 2001, I drew a sketch of a friend's RPG character. The photographic reference I was using was Rachel Weisz as of The Mummy Returns, but her hair was far too long to match, so I did up a new hairstyle for her. Full size pic, or check my user pics and look for the one marked 'Madison'.

Last year I needed a picture of Annie Wells for stubborn_annie. The one visual reference to her in Dog Soldiers was a very blurred wallet size photograph that was totally unusable. I wound up picking the actress who played Lady Macduff in the 1998 Bogdanovich version of Macbeth, and darkening her hair. This is her.

Rather a weird coincidence, and one I'd altogether forgotten.

Well then this might blow your mind. About a week ago I got it in my head to go searching for this really good roleplayer whom I'd played with on a MUSH years ago, to see if the page of sketches this person had up was still around. It was! So I searched again for the nickname and found, yes, this livejournal. Hey, look, a blog that updates regularly. And I even know the person.. sortakinda. I'll have to say hi at some point, says I to myself...

Something on the order of 6 years or thereabouts. Sorry I dissapeared. If I remember right, I was in my first semester at art school and.. well sometimes I just kind of shut down, emotionally, and cut all non-essential contact. Well, a close friend of mine died and boom, down I went. I didn't talk to much anyone for a while. I never went back on the mush. Terribly sorry for leaving everyone hanging..

... I ended up turning Ivan into a LARP character, minus the rollerblading. He was an Orphan Mage, post spear-of-longinus impalement, yadda yadda, moved to Florida to get the hell away from madness in Toronto. Dan (Dave?) Grishin was mentioned in the bio I wrote up as one of the only people he trusted back there. Coming from a known paranoid, that's high praise ;) Anyhow I played him in the LARP for two years. I have not had that much fun roleplaying since. I miss that character terribly.

Every now and then, and recently, I think about turning him into a webcomic.

Anyhow, I graduated from art school. I'm a staff artist/page designer at a newspaper in Florida. And also a freelancer. Like right now. Back to work...

Dave Grishin, yeah. Man, I remember Ivan- poor paranoid bugger. I haven't played at Metro in years, but he was fun to deal with. Me, I'm a sysadmin in Manhattan these days, and most of my RP is done on Livejournal.

The art I saw at your blog is looking really sharp, btw.
