Watching Troy with mephron. Have been throwing things at the screen quite a lot.

Threw my Hound of Tindalos at the screen when the Trojan marketplace had to be cleared of llamas.

LLAMAS.

Not lamas, which I could almost sort of kind of maybe see.

...See, the thing is, though? I almost always fail to pick up on anachronistic things like that in historic epic movies. It's a combination of having weak history-fu and just getting caught up in the movie and taking things as they come. Like the steel weapons. I'm now going "...oh, right, Bronze Age", but I wouldn't have called that on my own.

But even I know there shouldn't be llamas in Troy.

I have a thing for ungulates of all kinds. I was lookikng over the horses to see just how weirdly anachronistic the breeds were when OMGWTFLLAMAS.

honestly, there was a better chance of friggin' Sivatherium still being around in Troy's time than there would be of llamas being available to them. (There's an ancient Sumerian seal ring that contains an animal that's either a badly drawn giraffe, one of the Sivatherium species, or somebody in Sumer on drugs.)
