I have no clue what the DVDs cost, but it's $2/episode at iTunes.

If they charge $2 per episode, it would be, since all Trek DVDs are far too pricey.

... how does the 'buying movies' and episodes on iTunes work? Does it play it on your computer, or do they send it to you? *has been trying to figure this out*

It plays on your computer, in iTunes. I got the whole first season of Avatar that way.

Any of the single seasons of TOS DVDs lists for $70. Amazon only gets $67.50 for not much savings.

$2 * 29 episodes of Season 1 = $58.

So cheaper, but not a heck of a lot, and not terribly portable if I want to show one as someone else's house--very portable for commute viewing on the old iPod, but I'd rather knit socks (http://www.knitty.com/issuewinter05/PATTpomatomus.html) and watch scenery on the Stately Transbay Bus than watch old trek...

Not if you get a good used set at Amazon. I got the third season for about thirty-five bucks. Pristine condition.

Best Buy still has them at 60+ dollars. At least it's better than the 100 dollars they started at. O.o
