I'm feeling a great deal better today than I've done in a while. My side still hurts, but it's in okay condition overall.

Now.

Dear IKEA:

I love you and your furniture, and generally am okay with having to go through the whole damn store to get to the room where you keep all the stuff I actually want to buy. However, I ahve a request to make of you. Please, please, please put the 'here are the tools you need' hieroglyphs on the outside of the box from now on? I opened up the Kullen chest of drawers flatpak and only then found out I needed a hammer, rather than merely a screwdriver or three. Suffice it to say I have no clue where my hammer is.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Camwyn.

That is why Ikea also sells a little tool kit in an orange box near the furniture stuff. It has everything you could possibly need to assemble any of their stuff - screwdriver thingy with interchangable heads, hammer, etc. It rocks.

There is now a generation of young women in the world who know how to use tools, and own tools, and it is wonderful.

Now we just need to learn to use tool boxes.

I've seen plenty of women in the cooking classes I took who used tool boxes to store and sort their gear. I should probably have taken a leaf from that book -- my knife roll is pitifully inadequate by comparison.

I suspect it's also why those little took kits sell . . .

But what do you need it for? I've noticed that those wooden plugs they often have in furniture can be put in place with the back of a screwdriwer pretty well too.

If it's realy nails, well, the 'wood' they use is pretty soft...

Ah, IKEA. Wonderful place.

I only say that because when I have to put something up, my Dad furnishes me with power tools.

:D!
