I've spoken with my parents, who were very comforting about this whole bloody thing and quite concerned because they knew how seriously I took this event. Dad even asked me if I needed anything. I told him no, I'd be fine. I then asked what we were doing for Mom's birthday, and while we don't know the specifics yet, it's clear that I won't be able to do the Twin Lights Ride's century route.

On the other hand, the New York chapter of the MS Society is having a bike ride to raise money for multiple sclerosis care and research on October 15th. If I can raise $100 in pledge money, I can ride their hundred mile route. That, I can live with- especially since my late paternal grandmother had MS for years, and since it means I get to ride through the Lincoln Tunnel unmolested by cars. I can live with this.

Might see if I can drum up a place to stay in Manhattan the night of the fourteenth now, because while I love Uncle Peter, the bed in his apartment was not the sort I could sleep on very easily. Add in ride anticipation, and it took me ages to get to sleep. A hotel room would probably be a better bet, or even a hostel bed. We'll see.
