I know he had his reasons, and I know those of y'all who run on the British release dates have already gone through this and will doubtless think me very silly for coming to this conclusion a year after you, but dammit, I'm going to miss Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor.

Yes, he will be missed, but Tennant really isn't that bad. He does an excellent job of following Eccleston. (I won't say replacing, because he doesn't try to, nor should he.)

Eccleston was an incredible Doctor, and just what the series needed to hook a new fan base. Tennant's Doctor is somewhat darker at times, and his connection to Rose is a lot stronger.

The way I have understood it from the podcasts, Tennant had been slated to be the Doctor from the beginning, but due to conflicts (HP4 and such), he negotiated to delay it a year, during which time Eccleston filled the bill (by his own request, if the rumor mill is right).

I agree. I was dubious at first, having only seen him in Cracker as a Detective Chief Inspector, but I really got to like him in the role.

I really liked Eccleston's Doctor.

But, man, the identity of Bad Wolf? *grump* Talk about deus ex machina.

I know what you mean. No matter how wonderful the new Doctor is, you always miss the old one. Always. And I've seen three regenerations before this, so I know it hurts.

I'm SO glad that I didn't see the Goblet of Fire movie. It would be very disconcerting to look at David Tennant's Doctor and think, "BARTY CROUCH JUNIOR?"

Hee.

I admit, I was secretly hoping for The Master ;)

Absolutely. I didn't get hooked on Dr Who until Eccleston came along, and dammit, he's my doctor. *sigh*

I did get to call and leave a work related message for Rose Tyler yesterday, however. *G* (Seriously. Yes, I know it's not the same person. Leave me my poor delusions.)

I'd only ever seen one Doctor Who episode before the Eccleston season, and I have to admit I didn't really get it at first. After watching the whole season I can't help but laugh at the:

"Nice to meet you Rose Tyler, now RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!"

Every time.

Ah. Yeah, I'd say the bittersweet is part of being a true fan. I still miss Jon Pertwee. ;)

As I said, so will I. (And I'd like to thank [livejournal.com profile] eriklebeau for clearing up the behind-the-scenes stuff re: the changeover that never quite made sense to me before.) I've already pre-ordered the DVD, of course, and I hope Sci-Fi give us USonians a Christmas Invasion present.

Yeah, it's weird, isn't it? I had my doubts and worries, too. But for me at least - and pretty much everyone I've spoken to - I love the new doctor. It's comforting that he has a few of the same tics as the old one. Watch the manic smile, for example.

The new girl at McDonalds was called Rose and LOOKED LIKE HER.

I half expexted to hear groaning mechanics behind the Employees Only door.

That's why I like the version that dresses in the beige coat and the beige hat.

He's just always so HAPPY.

You never do know.... anything weird been happening around there? Some sort of unexplained oil used on the chips that makes folks smarter? *G*

Actually, the food is good, the decor is pleasing and the employees are happy.

I suspect the Doctor found them some real cows for the food and treats the staff to trips to Woodstock.
