.... okay, is it just me, or do the free compost bins that they're giving away on the Isle of Lewis look suspiciously like they could do with a toilet plunger or two, about a dozen croquet balls sawed in half and stuck to the outsides, and a good coat of metallic paint?

Er.

I need one now. *wonders if she can get a life-sized Dalek to keep on the porch*

I think, between you and that picture, the question has been answered. Everyone either wants one to fight off Daleks, or free playhouse for the kids!

Oh come now, you know you want one. Imagine what we could DO with it to plague NYC.

Then again, why my brain is imagining one of these playing the Algorithm March with Ninjas and the Leek Girl with Leva's Polka is beyond me. Probably brain-suckage from all that weird.

eBay will have hundreds soon enough. They'll be all the rage among fen who want to have a kickass costume for cons. There's the obvious option, but I think they could pull off an oversize R2 with some work. . .

Aren't they great? I have two of those very bins. Maybe I'll paint them up and have two daleks standing in the garden. That'd freak the neighbours!

:D

I don't know whether I find disturbing or avant garde the pictured suggestion of composting the neighborhood children.

They're quite common over here (a few councils give them away or sell them at a lower than normal price) and yes, they're often called 'Dalek' bins to distinguish them from the egg-shaped ones that you spin end over end :-)

*nods fervently*

It looks for all the world like a pair of children playing in the suit of a decomissioned Dalek.
