I've contacted both my Senators and my Representative about this. For those of you as irritated as I am - I say 'irritated' because I don't have enough adjectives to adequately describe the appropriate degree of 'enraged' - you may want to pop by these Web pages and drop a few lines to the right people.
http://www.house.gov/writerep/ - Find your Congressional Representative, then email them.
http://www.senate.gov/senators/senator_by_state.cfm - Find your Senator, then email them - or snail mail them, since you can find their snail addresses this way, too.
Alien and !&*(& Sedition acts all over again.... A breach of the peace to turn your back on Bush, huh? What does that make the T-shirt I made up for an anti-illegal-small-arms-trade rally last year? (For the record, it said 'George Doesn't Speak For Me'. Want one? I used an inkjet, but I'm considering setting up a cafepress store for the art at my web site - might as well go into politics while I'm at it.)
Today's pulp survival tips are:
65. No talking about overthrowing the evil oppressive monarchical backwards regime until you're out of the monarch's earshot.
65a. Guardsmen, castle servants, and relatives all count as extensions of the monarch's earshot.
66. Similarly, democracy and republican forms of government work great in America, but being loud about how wonderful they are in comparison to the local form of government is a great way to wind up in an Evil Villain's prison.

Not good
Date: 2002-06-18 12:24 am (UTC)Turning your back on the Head of State is merely rude, not treasonous and much as I would like to see bad manners criminalised... NO.
Good luck.
